Yankee Go Home: USF1 Banned... Forever!

The United States takes great pride in being the Land of Opportunity. Despite growing cynicism, we remain a nation of dreamers.

The Old World harbors a less romanticized disposition.

The USF1 dream died a humiliatingly public death today at the hand of the World Motorsports Council. Apparently, these guys don't take kindly to vaporware.

If IndyCar were to operate in this manner, then we would see heads rolling across Gasoline Alley as a matter of course. This is the series, after all, in which talented and accomplished foreign ride buyers, let alone American dreamers, are unable to land a seat.

  1. Does this mean that Mr Anderson will sell the "Falocn" blueprints cheap??? He sure looks like he can use the money!!! The fine alone was probably more than the entire budget. Hope he lands somewhere as he is a very good engineer!!

  2. The fine was only the entry fee that they paid last year - it just means they'll never be able to claim it back.
It really was a shocking example of how not to run a racing team - regardless of the formula r championship.

  3. It just shows how much racing has gotten out of control and how the powers that be are effectively killing the sport at all levels. Too much money is as bad as too little. F1,Indy Car, NASCAR, etc. are all getting to the point of no return. Fans can't absorb all the additional cost in the current economy. If they won't pay any more, they will find alternative forms of entertainment. That is how free markets work.

  4. It's not just that many fans can't absorb the costs - many won't absorb the costs because they're attending on passes or deep discounts anyway. Anyone paying full price for a seat is not looking for a discount. I've purchased Richmond tix for a buck apiece because I didn't feel like bargaining.
